3. Will a revamped defense keep up with Cam Newton?

The Ravens don't face many dual-threat quarterbacks this season, and certainly no one with the combined arm strength, size and athleticism of talented Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. Chasing around Newton, reacting to his mobility and spirals should provide a good barometer for the defense. The Atlanta Falcons ran roughshod over the defense a week ago, piling up 170 rushing yards and a touchdown on 40 carries as they averaged 4.3 yards per run with 76 yards gained in the first half against the starters. An overhauled defense can't make a habit out of overpursuing, opening up big running lanes and missing tackles.
