Webb crashed into Smith following a catch, which clearly angered Smith.
Smith got up and shoved Webb and they exchanged words before Webb moved back toward him. After the fight appeared to be broken up, Smith took another shot at Webb. Once the brief confrontation was over, Smith cursed at Webb and delivered a threat if they clash again.
Smith is known for being combative.
When Smith was with the Carolina Panthers, he broke cornerback Ken Lucas' nose with a punch in a 2008 practice. He later apologized and was suspended by the Panthers for two games. In 2002, Smith was suspended by the team for one game following a fight with teammate Anthony Bright, in which Bright's orbital lobe was fractured.
Earlier in practice, rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan got into a scuffle with rookie tight end Crockett Gillmore that ended after both players wrestled each other to the ground.
Later, Smith and Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs took Jernigan aside to calm him down.
"You can't be a pushover, man," said Jernigan, a second-round draft pick. "I played at Florida State and we don't get down like that. It's part of the game. It's over now. Whatever happens on the field stays on the field. We're teammates at the end of the day."
There haven't been a ton of fights during offseason practice sessions, but Jernigan has been in the middle of a few flare-ups.
"It's a little hot and guys are competing out there," offensive tackle Ryan Jensen said. "We're out here battling. That's part of football sometimes."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
