2012 salary: McKinnie, who will turn 33 in September, the first month of the season, signed a two-year, $7.5 million deal last August, which included a $1 million signing bonus. He is due a $500,000 roster bonus March 18. That will leave his salary cap number at $4.2 million. Skinny: I think it’s likely but hardly a formality that the big left tackle returns next season. He is getting up there in age, his conditioning has been problematic and he really struggles as a run blocker. But with that being said, he did have a decent season last year and the Ravens simply don’t have another left tackle that you can slot in right now and ask to protect Joe Flacco’s blindside. If Ben Grubbs and Matt Birk both re-sign, I think that it’s possible that the Ravens draft a tackle or maybe move Michael Oher back over there and perhaps use a rookie or Jah Reid at right tackle. There are some nice tackle prospects that should be available late in the first round. Still, that’s a whole lot of what if’s. I think there is a much better chance of McKinnie coming back than for those other scenarios. It wouldn’t be a total shock to me, however, if the Ravens moved on from him.
