New Haven tight end Mike Flacco is heading to the NFL.

The brother of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is signing an undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers, according to a league source.

Mike Flacco, 26, declared early for the NFL draft after being selected as a third-team Division II All-American in his first season at New Haven.

It marked the first time Flacco had played football since he was in high school. He finished the season with 30 catches for 591 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end ended his baseball career last April and was placed on the voluntarily retired list by the Boston Red Sox after the Orioles traded him last March. In 2009, he was a 31st-round draft selection by the Orioles, out of the Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville.

He finished his minor league baseball career in 2012, primarily playing at Single-A Frederick, with four games for Double-A Bowie. He batted .214, with eight home runs, 15 doubles, one triple, seven stolen bases, 31 walks and 62 strikeouts.
