The tarp has been rolled off the playing surface at Soldier Field, though weather reports for the Ravens' game this afternoon against the Chicago Bears remain poor.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the National Weather Service has issued an "extraordinarily rare" tornado watch for the area today that is in effect until 4 p.m.
Beyond the tornado watch, severe thunderstorms are predicted for the area that could include thunderstorms, hail and strong wind gusts that could reach up to 75 miles per hour, according to the weather service.
The storms are expected to peak right around noon central time, which is the time the Ravens and Bears are scheduled to kick off.
At this point, there have been no announcements about whether the starting time could be delayed.
Players from both teams are on the field warming up and testing their footing. At this point, it is not raining, but it is extremely windy and cloudy. Perhaps, it's the calm before the storm.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
