Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that some of his banged-up players would be held out against the Cincinnati Bengals. That list apparently includes Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice.

A team source confirmed an ESPN report that the Ravens are planning to hold Rice out of today's game, which doesn't mean a whole lot with the Bengals already entrenched as the 6th seed and the Ravens having already secured the AFC North title and a first-round home playoff game next week.

Rice hasn't missed a game since 2008, his rookie season. Selected to his third Pro Bowl earlier this week, Rice has rushed for 1,138 yards and nine touchdowns and caught 61 balls for 478 yards and one touchdown. He has had some of his best games against the Bengals, averaging 110 yards per game and scoring seven touchdowns in the last four games against them.

Rice was on the injury list last week with a minor hip injury but he hasn't been on it this week.

With him not playing, rookie Bernard Pierce and second-year running back Anthony Allen are expected to carry the load.

Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata who hasn't practiced this week because of a knee injury also won't play today.
