Ravens backup nose tackle Terrence Cody is making progress since spraining his left knee against the Houston Texans and is hopeful of returning as soon as next week.
Cody won't play today against the Miami Dolphins after missing the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. He was listed as doubtful on the injury report, but isn't ready to practice yet.
"I'm getting better," Cody said Friday. "The main thing is getting the swelling out of there and getting the motion back."
Cody is upbeat about his outlook for the Ravens' home game next Sunday against the Green Bay Packers depending on how much progress he makes this week.
"Hopefully," he said. "I was pushing for this week, so hopefully next week."
The Ravens allowed 203 rushing yards on 55 carries against Bills running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.
"We had a rough week last week, but that happens in the NFL," Cody said. "They had two good backs, Spiller taking the top off the defense and Fred is one of those guys who runs in between the tackles and moves the pile."
