Reid's status for Saturday's preseason game against the Washington Redskins is now in doubt. Reid has been named the backup right tackle behind starter Rick Wagner. If he can't go Saturday, David Mims would likely take his snaps with the second-team offense.
Under NFL guidelines governing concussions, Reid has to take and pass a baseline neurological exam before he can return to play.
"Jah got a little head dinger," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "I don't know the extent of it or how long he will be, but he hit his head [Monday]. So, he's doing the concussion protocol."
Reid had rebounded from a rough offseason where he was arrested in March and charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly head-butting, punching and kicking a man at a strip club in Key West, Fla., resolving the case wihen he was accepted into a pretrial diversion program.
Reid also was sidelined for the majority of the offseason practices because of a strained calf.
Reid has gotten in better shape this year. Listed at 6-foot-7, 320 pounds, Reid is 20 pounds lighter than last season.
A 2011 third-round draft pick from Central Florida, Reid is entering the final year of a four-year, $2.6 million contract.
