The Ravens have signed fourth-round defensive end Brent Urban to a four-year, $2.52 million contract that includes a $300,584 signing bonus.

The Ravens also formally signed second-round defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan to a $4.382 million contract that includes a $1.507 million signing bonus. Jernigan agreed to terms Friday night and signed his contract today.

With Urban and Jernigan signed, the Ravens have only two unsigned draft picks: first-round linebacker C.J. Mosley and third-round safety Terrence Brooks.

Urban is a former Canadian hockey player who stopped playing hockey at age 16 as a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder to concentrate on football when he had outgrown the sport. He's now 6-foot-7, 295 pounds.

Urban had 40 tackles and a sack last season despite dealing with a high-ankle sprain. Urban had surgery in February after aggravating the injury at the Senior Bowl and isn't practicing yet, but is expected to be fully ready for training camp.

The Ravens like his size and long-term upside as a five-technique defensive lineman.

For his career, Urban had 75 tackles, three sacks and a blocked kick.

Urban is expected to be groomed for playing time behind veteran starter Chris Canty, a fellow University of Virginia football alum.
