Ravens practice squad running back Jonas Gray imitating Vikings star Adrian Peterson this week

Before the Ravens square off with Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson on Sunday, they'll spend this week chasing around someone imitating Peterson's powerful running style.

It's Ravens practice squad running back Jonas Gray's job to simulate Peterson's moves this week to help the defense prepare for the consensus top running back in the NFL. Peterson leads the league with 1,208 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns and is coming off a 211-yard performance during an overtime win over the Chicago Bears last week.

"I've been watching him and he runs with a lot of physicality," said Gray, a 5-foot-10, 225-pound player from Notre Dame who joined the Ravens this season after a previous stint on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad.

"Sometimes, that part of it is hard to translate in practice. I do all the little small things he does in terms of him using a stiff arm a ton and him jumping through the hole and making hard, tough cuts. I try to simulate those things and just making sure I'm doing what he does best."

Gray said he didn't think he would wear Peterson's No. 28 jersey, but will instead wear a red jersey.

"The red means, 'He's on alert,'" Gray said. "It should be fun."
