Rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw headlined a group of players who suffered injuries in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the St. Louis Rams, but how they are faring the day after is unclear.
Coach John Harbaugh declined to provide updates on those players, citing NFL rules that team are not required to disclose injuries until Wednesday, which is the first day when injury reports are distributed.
“As far as injuries, injury reports are on Wednesday through Friday, so there won’t be any more comment on that until Wednesday,” Harbaugh said after Friday’s practice at the team’s headquarters in Owings Mills. “I will say this: We got out of the game with nothing major.”
In the second quarter of Thursday’s 31-17 loss, Upshaw reaggravated the right shoulder that he had sprained July 28. Upshaw, the organization’s top pick in April’s NFL draft, was scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam Friday.
Guard-center Justin Boren was also supposed to get an MRI on his sprained right foot. Rookie tight ends Matt Balasavage (sprained left ankle) and Bruce Figgins (sprained right shoulder) and rookie strong safety Christian Thompson (unspecified) also suffered injuries.
“I don’t anticipate anybody being out with the possible exception of Jah Reid – although he’s actually getting pretty close,” Harbaugh said. “So we will just have to see how that goes.”Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
