Ravens meet with Mississippi State guard Gabe Jackson at Senior Bowl

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome recently expressed a desire to get bigger along the interior offensive line during a state-of-the-team news conference.

The Ravens could accomplish that goal with imposing Mississippi State offensive guard Gabe Jackson, who is among the players the team has met with at the Senior Bowl.

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 335-pound All-Southeastern Conference offensive selection, is projected to be selected anywhere from the second round to fourth round in the upcoming NFL draft.

"I talked to the Ravens and liked it," said Jackson, who's friends with Ravens backup rush outside linebacker Pernell McPhee, a former Mississippi State player. "We had a good conversation. I would love to play for the Ravens."

One of the biggest things Jackson is getting acclimated to this week is the pace, tempo and terminology of an NFL practice. The Jacksonville Jaguars' coaching staff is coaching Jackson on the South squad.

"I'm trying to get better, and this is a little different," Jackson said. "It's not a bad thing, it's just a little different from what you're used to. You have to get adjusted to what the NFL coaches want.

"I'm catching on to the plays and taking heed of what the coaches are saying. I've had good coaching all the way, so anything I can get I'll take it."
