Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino staying put

The Ravens' coaching staff is remaining intact.

The Philadelphia Eagles' hire of former Cleveland Browns linebackers coach Billy Davis as their new defensive coordinator eliminates Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino as a candidate to leave.

Monachino had been linked to the Eagles' coaching vacancy, but was never formally contacted. The Eagles ultimately didn't seek permission to interview him while he was occupied with the Super Bowl.

"As far as our coaching staff, we will have continuity there," general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "As of right now, I have not gotten a call or a letter from another organization asking to interview one of our coaches. So, we will have some continuity there."

Monachino had told The Baltimore Sun during Super Bowl week that he was interested, but indicated the Eagles didn't get in touch with him. Monachino was endorsed by coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dean Pees as being ready to run his own NFL defense.

"It is flattering," Monachino said. "I'm really excited that's out there, but right now the story doesn't have any legs. I don't expect it to. I don't know anyone in Philadelphia.

"I know they haven't contacted anyone on our club. It is exciting to have your name out there for an opportunity like that."
