Time will tell if Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs, the 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, will make into to the Pro Football Hall of Fame whenever his playing career ends. But if Suggs does get inducted, his gear will be waiting for him when he arrives.
The uniform worn by Suggs in his standout 2011 season arrived Thursday at the Hall of Fame, so if you make the trip up to Canton, Ohio you can check out the helmet, purple jersey, pants, socks and cleats he wore while chasing after enemy quarterbacks in 2011.
“We appreciate Terrell and the Ravens sending these momentos to us,” Pro Football Hall of Fame curator Jason Aikens said. “This helps us achieve our mission of preserving the game’s great history and the players who’ve made an impact on the game.”
Suggs, who had a career-high 14 sacks and forced a Ravens single-season record seven fumbles, received 21 of 50 votes for the AP award, beating Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings and others to be named Defensive Player of the Year. He joined Ray Lewis and Ed Reed as Ravens who have won the award.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
