Maybe it’s because I was a star mathlete in high school, but I love numbers. And we’ve spent plenty of time crunching them these past 10 days while waiting for the Ravens to make moves -- or purposefully not make moves -- in the new league year. Here is a handful of relevant numbers from this quiet free-agency period:
$120.6 million: The salary cap ceiling for teams (excluding the Cowboys and Redskins), slightly up from 2011.
$4.7 million: The amount of cap room the Ravens had available for purchases as of Wednesday morning.
Five: Ravens free agents who have signed elsewhere so far.
31: Years of NFL experience for those five departures combined.
Six: Ravens free agents who remain unsigned as of today.
Zero: The number of other teams’ free agents they have signed.
$61.5 million: Total value of contracts given to free agents Elvis Grbac and Leon Searcy after the Ravens won the Super Bowl.
5, 21 and 27: The jersey numbers of three Ravens players who are in line for extensions -- Joe Flacco, Lardarius Webb and Ray Rice.
10: Ravens first-round picks who have gone to a Pro Bowl.
29: Baltimore’s first overall pick in the next month’s NFL draft.
$36 million: Max value of the deal the Saints gave to Ben Grubbs.
$465,000: 2012 base salary of Jah Reid, who could replace him.
130: Jarret Johnson’s franchise-record consecutive games streak.
$4.75 million: His average salary after signing with the Chargers.
96: Matt Birk’s consecutive games streak (regular season only).
$7.75 million: The annual salary for Mark Anderson over the next four seasons. He visited the Ravens before signing with the Bills.
8.5: The total number of sacks Anderson had from 2007-10 before racking up 10 for the Patriots last season.
$140.55 million: Total salary handed out by the Buccaneers to three free agents: Carl Nicks, Vincent Jackson and Eric Wright.
Four: The number of games the Buccaneers won last season.
12-4: The Ravens’ record in 2011 after cutting ties with Derrick Mason, Todd Heap, Kelly Gregg and Willis McGahee.
52: Players the Ravens have under contract, including restricted and exclusive-rights free agents and a franchise player (Rice).
