A devoted Ravens fan, Mike Ridgell, was one of the dozen people killed in the mass shooting Monday at the Washington Navy Yard.
The Owings Mills resident was wearing his Terrell Suggs jersey Sunday in this photo passed on by the Ravens' official Twitter account, as well as wide receiver Torrey Smith, along with condolences from the team.
According to this Baltimore Sun profile of the victims, Ridgell grew up in Anne Arundel County and was a Maryland State Police trooper prior to going to work in the Navy Yard. Before moving to Owings Mills, he lived in Westminster.
Ridgell, who worked for five years in Iraq as a private security consultant, had three daughters.
"He loved his softball, loved his steamed crabs," said Thomas Lyons, Ridgell's father-in-law, in the Sun profile. "Mike was a good father, a trooper. He loved softball, loved to play softball and coached his daughters' softball teams through this summer season."
