It’s been a month since Ravens wide receiver Deonte Thompson has played in a football game as he’s been inactive ever since catching one pass during a November overtime loss to the Chicago Bears.
Now that veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley has been placed on injured reserve with a concussion, Thompson has an increased chance of being active Monday night against the Detroit Lions.
If Thompson is active, the Ravens would have five wide receivers active Monday, including Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones, Marlon Brown and Tandon Doss.
Thompson is arguably the fastest player on the roster and entered training camp with high expectations before a foot injury suffered in the first preseason game kept him out of the first three games of the regular season.
“I’ve just got to be ready,” said Thompson, who has 10 receptions for 96 yards and no touchdowns and seven kickoff returns for 201 yards and a 28.7 average this season. “You hate to see a guy go down like that, but you got to be ready for the opportunity. I’ve definitely been taking those mental reps and trying to take advantage of everything.”
