The Ravens have cut veteran cornerback Chris Johnson, the team announced Monday.

Johnson returned to practice Saturday and said that he had dealt with migraine headaches for nearly two weeks, missing six days and a preseason game with the ailment.

“It was a long six days,” Johnson said Saturday. “It felt good to be back out here with the fellas. I had the migraines for over a week and a half, and they were just taking precautions as far as me doing any hitting.

“If you get a concussion when you have a migraine, you don't know where it starts from. They were being safe with me. I appreciate it, and now I'm back out here.”

Johnson, a 33-year-old former Oakland Raiders starter, joined the Ravens last season and started one game and played in four. He had seven tackles and one forced fumble and was signed to a one-year contract prior to free agency.

Johnson was never regarded as a lock to make the Ravens' 53-man roster to start the season, and he was released after becoming healthy enough to practice.

Johnson's $905,000 contract for 2013 included a $35,000 signing bonus with no other guarantees. He was due a $30,000 roster bonus if he had remained on the 53-man roster for the first game.

Under the minimum salary benefit, Johnson carried a $620,000 salary-cap figure.
