The Ravens have released three undrafted rookies to create roster spots for five new players.
The Ravens cut safety Dexter Moody (Albany State), linebacker Xavius Boyd (Western Kentucky) and cornerback Avery Patterson (Oregon).
Moody had drawn praise from Ravens coach John Harbaugh on Thursday during the final day of a mandatory minicamp, but the team is crowded at safety.
"Dexter is a very good athlete," Harbaugh said. "He has size, speed. He’s a tough guy with good hand-eye coordination. Coming from a smaller school, he’s had more to learn. He’s done a pretty good job with it, but that’s always a challenge with a young guy like that."
The roster subtractions opened up space for veteran cornerbacks Aaron Ross and Dominique Franks, linebackers Nick DiMarco and Austin Spitler and wide receiver Mike Willie.
The Ravens are back to the NFL limit of 90 players after cutting wide receiver Aaron Mellette (knee surgery) and Adrian Hamilton (wrist surgery) when they failed physicals earlier this week.
