It will be Burgess' third stint with the Ravens this season and the fourth of his career. He led the Ravens in special teams tackles in both 2009 and 2010.
To make room on the 53-man roster for Burgess, the Ravens waived offensive tackle Mark LeVoir who was in his first season with the team. LeVoir started Week Two's loss to the Tennessee Titans in place of the injured Ben Grubbs.
The Ravens signed LeVoir, a former New England Patriot in August, to compete for a starting spot, but he fell down the depth chart with the additions of Gurode and Bryant McKinnie.
Ellerbe hurt his hamstring in the Ravens' third game against the St. Louis Rams. He didn't play against the Jets but returned Sunday against the Texans, only to leave the game with more hamstring issues.
