The Ravens today signed five undrafted free agents after getting a look at them at their rookie minicamp over the weekend.
Added to the roster were: quarterback Chester Stewart and tight end Matt Balasavage, both of Temple; Georgia tight end Bruce Figgins; Alabama State linebacker Nigel Carr; and Northwestern cornerback Jordan Mabin.
To make room for those players, the Ravens released four rookie free agents. That group includes Texas fullback Jamison Berryhill, Syracuse tight end Nick Provo, Auburn linebacker Eltoro Freeman and North Carolina defensive back Charles Brown.
Stewart and former Florida signal caller John Brantley were the lone quarterbacks at the minicamp. Stewart, a Hanover native who went to high school at DeMatha, started six games for Temple last season, including one against Maryland when he went 9-for-9 for 140 yards. He is 6 feet 3, 214 pounds.
Figgins (6-4, 272 pounds) is a converted tight end, having been moved from fullback before last season. He had 16 catches for 179 yards and four touchdowns for the Bulldogs in his final season at Georgia.
Balasavage (6-4, 256 pounds) is a blocking tight end who caught just one pass for Temple last season and six in his collegiate career.
A 6-foot-2, 232-pound linebacker, Carr finished his collegiate career at Alabama State. He was released from his scholarship at Florida State after being arrested on two felony burglary charges.
Mabin, who is 5-11 and 180 pounds, played in 51 career games for Northwestern. He had 62 tackles and one interception in his senior season.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
