Season in review: After making steady progress in his rookie season, more improvement was expected from Upshaw this year but he came to training camp over his desired weight for a second straight year and his play leveled off somewhat. Playing primarily on run downs, Upshaw finished with 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He set the edge more times than not though he struggled at times to get off blocks.
Stat that stands out: 16 total quarterback pressures. That ranked last among 3-4 outside linebackers with at least 175 pass-rushing snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
Outlook for 2014 and beyond: At the very least, Upshaw will remain a key cog in the Ravens' run defense. Whether he moves closer to being an every-down linebacker depends on Terrell Suggs' future with the Ravens and Upshaw's ability to develop more pass-rushing moves. Conditioning questions will remain until Upshaw breaks the habit of reporting to camp over his targeted playing weight.
