Season in review: A converted center acquired in an offseason trade from the Indianapolis Colts, Shipley emerged as a starter for the Ravens when left offensive guard Kelechi Osemele suffered a season-ending back injury that required surgery. Although guard isn't his natural position and undersized at 6-foot-1, 309 pounds, Shipley earned respect from his teammates and coaches for how he battled while occasionally struggling against bigger defensive linemen. Shipley didn't grade out highly with a minus-18.1 from Pro Football Focus tied for the lowest mark among the Ravens' offensive linemen.
Stat that stands out: 8 -- Shipley led the Ravens in penalties, including four false starts.
Outlook for 2014 and beyond: Shipley is under contract for 2014 with a $570,000 base salary. He's expected to compete for the starting center job with Gino Gradkowski and figures into the equation at least as a proven reserve.
