Season in review: Not only was McClain told that a spinal cord contusion may prevent him from playing the 2013 season, he also was warned that his career was in jeopardy. He defied the odds and returned to the field in late October, starting the final 10 games and making 52 tackles. His comeback from a career-threatening injury made him the Ravens' representative for the Ed Block Courage award.
Stat that stands out: 10 months ¿ Length of time between NFL snaps for McClain who recovered from a spinal cord injury and returned to the field on Oct. 20 in Pittsburgh.
Outlook for 2014 and beyond: McClain reworked his deal last season and he may be asked to do it again. The 28-year-old carries a $4.4 million cap hit for 2014, a hefty price for a linebacker that plays almost exclusively on running downs. Ravens executives and coaches love McClain and value his leadership so they'll probably look to keep him at the right price.
