The coveted Vince Lombardi trophy made by Tiffany and Co. and worth more than $25,000 is safe and sound in the Ravens’ possession back in Baltimore.
There was a short time Sunday night when the Super Bowl champions were concerned about where it was.
As it turned out, it was safely accounted for on the Ravens’ private airplane charter, where it had been placed for safekeeping.
Harbaugh brought it with him to a news conference Monday morning at the Super Bowl media center, and players were Tweeting photos of the trophy, including linebackers Ray Lewis and Brendon Ayanbadejo, on the flight home Monday afternoon.
The Ravens have a trophy case in their lobby reserved for this ultimate NFL prize.
“We hadn’t seen this [trophy] since [Sunday] night,” Harbaugh said. “We thought we lost it. It was quite a night last night, and I’m just proud of our team, proud of our coaches and our players and, most of all, happy for the people in Baltimore.”
