Citing a scheduling conflict at Radio City Music Hall, the NFL has shifted its traditional April draft to May for 2014.
The draft will be conducted May 8 to May 10 in New York.
The league made the change official today, but stated no decision has been made regarding the date of the 2015 NFL draft and other future drafts.
The NFL is looking into possibly holding the draft in the future at Radio City Music Hall, other venues in the New York area or at other cities.
No major changes are planned for the other dates on the offseason calendar next year.
The NFL will hold regional combines from Jan. 24 to Feb. 16 as well as some regional combines after the annual NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, which is set for Feb. 18 to Feb. 25 next year.
Free agency and the new league year is set for March 11 next year with the annual league meetings to be held in Orlando, Fla., on March 23 to March 26.
The NFL announced that the alteration of the 2014 draft date won't affect when rookies can report to their teams or change offseason program or length of offseason program or amount of practice days.
The league said it's not currently anticipating changing the 2015 offseason calendar that would cut down the amount of practice days or cut down the breadth of the offseason program.
However, the NFL hasn't ruled out altering the offseason calendar at some point to possibly hold free agency prior to the scouting combine.
Goodell and the NFL do have the power to change the time of the draft without such approval.
