Ravens S Bernard Pollard vs. Texans TE Owen Daniels: They know each other from a season ago. Pollard will be starting in place of Tom Zbikowski, and Daniels should get plenty of action with wide receiver Andre Johnson out with an injury. Daniels has 21 receptions for 271 yards and a team-best three touchdowns. Pollard has six tackles and would like nothing better than to beat his former team. Edge: Daniels.
Ravens S Ed Reed vs Texans QB Matt Schaub: Schaub is only one of 12 NFL quarterbacks with back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons in 2009 and 2010. Even without Johnson, he threw for more than 400 yards against the Oakland Raiders last week. Reed is one of the NFL’s top safeties, and he’ll get frequent opportunities to nab a couple of Schaub’s passes. The key for Schaub is locating Reed on the field before and after the snap. Edge: Ravens.
Ravens MLB Ray Lewis vs. Texans RB Arian Foster: Lewis relishes games when he is pitted against the NFL’s top runners. Lewis is still at the top of his game from tackle to tackle because he knows how to slip and get off blocks. Foster is the reigning NFL rushing champ with 1,610 yards last season. If he is having a good game, that won’t be a good sign for the Ravens. Foster is the best challenge of the season for Lewis. Edge: Even.
