McKinnie, Ngata practice for first time today

The Baltimore Sun

After passing their conditioning test earlier today, Ravens left tackle Bryant McKinnie and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata both are practicing for the first time in training camp.

McKinnie reported to training camp late and has been dealing with a back issue. Ngata tweaked his hamstring while taking the conditioning test for the first time last week. Both were removed from the physically unable to perform list after passing their conditioning tests today.

Veteran guard Bobbie Williams also returned to practice after sitting out Thursday's session.

The new additions to the non-participant list include fullback Vonta Leach (undisclosed), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (undisclosed), cornerbacks Cary Williams (undisclosed), Jimmy Smith (back) and Asa Jackson (undisclosed). Ravens coach John Harbaugh gives his veterans periodic days off from practice and that could be the case with Leach and Williams.\

Smith left yesterday's practice early and defensive coordinator Dean Pees speculated that the second-year cornerback was dealing with a back issue.

Running back Bernard Pierce (hamstring), wide receivers Tandon Doss (hamstring), David Reed (knee) and Patrick Williams (undisclosed), tight end Dennis Pitta (hand), offensive linemen Jah Reid (calf) and Matt Birk (undisclosed), linebackers Terrell Suggs (Achilles), Courtney Upshaw (shoulder) and Josh Bynes (undisclosed), and defensive end Art Jones (undisclosed) remain sidelined.
