Cameras captured Harbaugh shaking his head when he looked down at his stopwatch after Te'o crossed the finish line at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Afterward, Te'o vowed to do better at his campus Pro Day workout.
"I did OK, I can obviously do a lot better, do a lot better," Te'o said during a televised NFL Network interview. "That's what Pro Days are for. .. It's very exhausting. If you ask anyone out here, it's a very exhausting process. It's all about getting out there, being with the guys, showing that you can get out there and do things."
Te'o said he was running in the 4.6 and 4.5 range in his training sessions leading up to the combine at IMG Sports Academy in Brandenton, Fla.
"Today was just a long, long day," Te'o said. "I am just going to go and keep training and make sure when my Pro Day comes, I am running those numbers. ..
"I want to run my 40, I want to get after it, be with my teammates. I am going to have a lot of teammates over there competing as well. It will be a family reunion thing. [People can expect] better numbers. [I'll be] rested. One day you hit it hard, and then you are done."
Why was Te'o so tired?
Te'o said he usually got to bed in Indianapolis at midnight to 1 a.m. after interviews and then got up at 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. for testing. The latest he said he got up was Monday at 6:37 a.m.
During meetings, Te'o said he was asked to break down plays on a chalkboard.
“That is where I am in my comfort zone," he said. "That is where I made the most strides this week, on the board, with the film. Not only telling them what I am doing, what the safety is doing, why this guy has to do this thing and for them to see that not only do I know what I am doing, but I know what the other 10 guys are doing. That is a big plus for me.”
Te'o seemed to turn in a solid performance in position-specific drills and agility exercises.
“I think I did best with my drills," Te'o said. "It's football. It's getting around corners, changing directions. That is why I did the best, but the thing is, I can do a lot better. That is exactly what is going to happen.”
