LaQuan Williams not despairing over deactivation

LaQuan Williams was deactivated for the first time prior to the Ravens’ 24-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday, but the rookie wide receiver took the move in stride.

Asked if he was surprised to be a healthy scratch, the undrafted free agent from the University of Maryland said, “Kind of, but not really. We needed an extra linebacker, and we were deep at receiver. So that’s how it worked out.”

Williams has caught four passes for 46 yards thus far and has been targeted 12 times. But he was not targeted in wins against the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers prior to the game against the Browns.

Still, Williams sounded unflustered and said his approach to practice hasn’t changed this week.

“You’ve just got to go out and keep doing what you’re doing,” he said.
