The Ravens are bringing back veteran safety and special teams contributor James Ihedigbo on a one-year contract, according to a league source wth knowledge of the situation.
Ihedigbo joined the Ravens last season after previous stints with the New England Patriots and New York Jets.
He finished with six special teams tackles, 19 tackles on defense with one sack and a pass deflection. Ihedigbo had a career-high 72 tackles, including 50 solos, with the Patriots in 2011.
For his career, the 6-foot-1, 214-pounder has 74 special teams tackles. That includes a career-high 27 special teams tackles with the New York Jets in 2009.
Ihedigbo is respected in the locker room and highly regarded by the Ravens and majority owner Steve Bisciotti.
Bisciotti called Ihedigbo, whose family lives in Abingdon, his "good-luck charm," while hugging him in the locker room after the Ravens' Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
