Baltimore Sun reporters, columnists and editors give their thoughts on the Ravens' loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6 of the NFL season.
Matt Vensel, reporter: It wasn't the shootout many of us expected -- at least not until the fourth quarter -- but the Ravens lost a tough one at home. The defense did all it could for the first three quarters until it ran out of gas when the final stops were needed. The offense ended up putting up some impressive numbers, but it struggled for much of the game, particularly the running game. We'll see how this team responds in Pittsburgh next weekend.
Aaron Wilson, reporter: The Ravens fall to 3-3 on the season following the 19-17 loss Sunday to the Green Bay Packers, squandering a fairly solid defensive effort overall against one of the top offenses in the NFL. The offense wasn't effective enough, though, especially the running game as they failed to convert two prime red-zone opportunities. It was the primary reason they lost the game as the defense contained Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with the exception of cornerback Lardarius Webb surrendering a long touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson. However, the defense struggled to stop rookie power back Eddie Lacy. A 52-yard pass to tight end Jermichael Finley on rookie safety Matt Elam gave the Packers the key first down they needed to preserve the win.
Peter Schmuck, columnist: The Ravens had a lot of opportunities to make something good happen in the first half and only succeeded in making something bad happen. By the time they got anything going, it was too late, but credit the defense for keeping it from becoming the Denver game all over again.
Ron Fritz, sports editor: The Ravens slept through another first half on offense, and they paid for it. The defense played a terrific game, except for the breakdown on the 64-yard bomb, but wore down after the offense couldn't sustain any early drives. The offensive line continues to stink, and until the Ravens get it figured out, they are going to lose games like this.
