Baltimore Sun reporters, columnists and editors give their thoughts on the Ravens' 19-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7 of the NFL season.
Peter Schmuck, columnist: Just another Ravens-Steelers game that ends up being decided by a field goal, but it didn't have to be that way. The offensive line's play clearly was improved, but the Ravens still couldn't get into the end zone in the first half and that would be the difference. It's not a devastating loss, but it is a very damaging one, since the Cincinnati Bengals also won on a late field goal to take a two-game lead in the AFC North.
Ron Fritz, sports editor: A typical Ravens-Steelers game, but this is a big, big loss for the Ravens. The Ravens offense continues to struggle and the defense let the Steelers march easily for the game-winning field goal. I bet John Harbaugh wishes he hadn’t tried the onside kick and handed the Steelers three points. If the Ravens don’t figure it out over the bye week, it’s going to be a long nine weeks left. The Steelers clearly have life.
