Ravens Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata returned to practice after missing the past few days of practice to attend to a family issue. He wasn't at practice Sunday and Monday, excused for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, defensive end Arthur Jones missed practice for the third day in a row for undisclosed reasons.

No injury has been reported for Jones, who played in the Ravens' 34-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium.

Defensive end-rush linebacker Pernell McPhee still isn't practicing as he continues to deal with soreness in his knees. He has had the issue since the Ravens' practice at Stevenson University on Aug. 18.

Other players not practicing Tuesday are: tight end Dennis Pitta (hip surgery), center Ryan Jensen (foot surgery), wide receiver Deonte Thompson (sprained left foot), weak-side linebacker Jameel McClain (spinal cord contusion, reserve physically unable to perform list) and defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore (right anterior cruciate ligament, reserve non-football injury list).

Thompson got hurt in the preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons.

Thompson is likely sidelined for the preseason finale, but could be healthy for the season opener as his condition has been improving lately, according to a league source.

Former Ravens Pro Bowl kicker Matt Stover is attending practice today, and Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps and his girlfriend, Golf Channel reporter Win McMurry, are at team headquarters.
