Haloti Ngata makes progress in big win over Steelers

For Ravens Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, it's been a difficult run with injuries.

Ever since spraining his right medial collateral ligament and right shoulder against the Dallas Cowboys, Ngata has been limited and struggled to regain his early-season dominating form.

One week after being rested in a rout of the Oakland Raiders and two weeks after being held without a tackle for only the second time in his career during a win over the Cleveland Browns, the three-time Pro Bowl selection rebounded from his ailments and recorded five tackles, including a sack, during the Ravens' 13-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.

Ngata appeared to have some issues with his injuries during the game, but didn't look hurt during the fourth quarter when he came up with a clutch sack of Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich.

"Yeah, I felt good, stronger," Ngata said. "A lot better."

Ngata dropped Leftwich for a 10-yard loss on 3rd-and-9 in the fourth quarter to snuff out a drive.

Earlier in the game, Ngata was noticeably not explosive and had trouble escaping from blocks. He demostrated some staying power, though, by coming up with a clutch play at the end of the game.

"Definitely, I just had to get a feel, kind of testing out my shoulder each play," Ngata said. "And I got more comfortable."
