Outspoken former Ravens and New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott is climbing the network ranks.

Scott was promoted to studio analyst for CBS' pregame show "The NFL Today" after starting with the network last season on its offshoot, "That Other PreGame Show."

Scott and former Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez have replaced Dan Marino and former Ravens tight end Shannon Sharpe on "The NFL Today." Scott was a Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection during the 2006 season with the Ravens.

He joined the Jets in 2009 and ended his career with them after the 2012 season.

“Bart joining The NFL Today is a natural progression from his outstanding work during his first season," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said in a news release. “Bart brings a dynamic personality and unique perspective as a recently retired player providing strong opinions on all the hot-button issues on a weekly basis.  We are confident he will continue to bring that perspective and those opinions to 'The NFL Today.'"
