The Ravens' laundry list of free agents is highlighted by running back Ray Rice, left guard Ben Grubbs and linebacker Jarret Johnson, but that trio did not appear Monday when media was allowed in the locker room.
However, outside linebacker Terrell Suggs said keeping Rice, a two-time Pro Bowl player, is a “no-brainer.”
“We're really good about that, guys who are truly Ravens, keeping them Ravens,” Suggs said. “There's no one better in the game to do it than [Ravens general manager] Ozzie Newsome.”
Inside linebacker Jameel McClain, an unrestricted free agent, said he hopes to return to the Ravens, but he feels he has been able to showcase his abilities to the rest of the league. Fellow inside linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo is also an unrestricted free agent, and he said “there’s pretty much no question” he will return.
“That just means I’ve got to figure out a new contract,” he said. “I want to end my career as a Raven.”
Free safety Ed Reed, center Matt Birk and defensive end Cory Redding were not present in the locker room Monday, either. Their futures with the team aren’t clear heading into next season.
