Evans played one season in Baltimore. The Ravens traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Buffalo Bills during last year’s training camp to acquire Evans, who was expected to be a regular target of quarterback Joe Flacco. But Evans missed seven games with a foot injury, lost his starting spot to rookie Torrey Smith and ended up catching just four passes for 74 yards and zero touchdowns.
He had four catches for 69 yards in the playoffs, but he will forever be remembered in Baltimore for the pass that he wasn’t able to haul in against the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game. In the final minute of the fourth quarter, Evans had what would have been the go-ahead touchdown pass slapped out of his hands in the end zone by Patriots cornerback Sterling Moore.
“It was an opportunity for us to go to the Super Bowl, and I let it go,” he said after the 23-20 loss.
Evans, 31, has totaled 381 receptions for 6,008 yards and 43 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
