Flacco established career highs in passing yards (389) and attempts (48) in Sunday’s 37-7 rout of the St. Louis Rams. His passing yards were the second most in franchise history behind Vinny Testaverde, who threw for 429 yards Oct. 27, 1996. Flacco connected on 27 of those passes and threw for three touchdowns.
Flacco’s primary competitors for the award are the Tennessee Titans’ Matt Hasselbeck (27 of 36 for 311 yards and two touchdowns) and the New York Giants’ Eli Manning (16 of 23 for 254 yards and four touchdowns).
The honor is determined by fan voting. Those interested in voting can go to NFL.com/FedEx.
If Flacco receives the most votes, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in his name to Junior Achievement, which seeks to educate the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own small businesses.
Voting ends at 3 p.m. Friday. The winner will be announced Friday on NFL.com and NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access.”Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
