The analysts who loved the Arthur Brown pick weren't crazy.
Some draftniks thought the rookie linebacker from Kansas State would start right away. That's unlikely, and in fact, Brown didn't make much impact in his first preseason game last week.
But in the second quarter Thursday, he demonstrated the speed that could make him a major playmaker in the near future. Brown darted into the backfield to make one stop and a few snaps later, ranged out to stuff a screen pass.
Comparing any young player to Ray Lewis is foolish. But Brown is a linebacker of less-than-ideal size who races to make tackles all over the field. So it's hard to avoid the association. At the very least, he's a player you can dream on, which is kind of the point of preseason football.
