Last week, Lee Evans practiced Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on a limited basis, but the Ravens elected to deactivate him for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The wide receiver, who has sat out seven consecutive games due to a left ankle injury, took part in the portion of Wednesday’s session open to the media. Prior to practice, he sounded hopeful that he might be able to return for Sunday’s home contest against AFC North rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Hopefully, it progresses better than it did last week,” Evans said. “Last week was pretty positive. So we’re hoping this week is better. I’m optimistic. I was optimistic last week. We’ve just got to see.”

Evans said he did not suffer a setback last week – a promising sign of his recovery. But Evans acknowledged that he would like to fully participate in practice before declaring himself ready to return.

“You’ve still got to play the way you play, and you’ve got to make it through practice if you expect to make it through a game,” he said. “I made it through the heavy days last week on a limited basis. So I hope to get more involved and still feel good enough to play on Sunday.”
