During the Ravens' first practice of the week at Tulane University heading into Sunday night's Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, starting inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and tight end Dennis Pitta both participated fully.
Ellerbe returned to practice after missing three days last week due to a sprained right ankle, toe injury and a minor back injury, but had already indicated he wouldn't be sidelined for the Super Bowl.
Pitta has been in and out of practice with an inner thigh injury.
According to a pool report, Ellerbe and Pitta both ran without a limp.
The Ravens' injury report stated that everyone participated fully, including wide receiver Tandon Doss (high-ankle sprain), cornerback Asa Jackson (hamstring), fullback Vonta Leach (right knee, ankle), middle linebacker Ray Lewis (right triceps), outside linebacker Albert McClellan (shoulder), defensive end Pernell McPhee (thigh), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (sprained right knee), running back Bernard Pierce (bone bruise right knee, thigh), wide receiver David Reed (hamstring), safety Ed Reed (torn shoulder labrum), cornerback Jimmy Smith (sports hernia surgery) and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs (right biceps, right Achilles tendon).
The Ravens practiced for nearly two hours at Tulane. The 49ers held their practice at the Saints' practice facility in Metairie.
The AFC champions had a choice of working out at the Saints' facility indoors late in the afternoon or early evening after the 49ers' practice, but opted to work outdoors.
The Ravens' next practice is Thursday afternoon at Tulane.
Flacco has passed for eight touchdowns and zero interceptions in three playoff victories.
"We had a great practice,’’ Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “We didn’t like the wind, but we got all of our work done. Spirits are high. They looked great. Our players are upbeat and happy. They don’t complain about anything.”
The following players participated fully: linebacker Navorro Bowman (shoulder), cornerback Tarell Brown (shoulder), tight end Garrett Celek (foot), running back Frank Gore (shoulder, ankle), linebacker Clark Haggans (shoulder) offensive guard Mike Iupati (shoulder), running back LaMichael James (finger), running back Bruce Miller (shoulder), defensive tackle Justin Smith (torn triceps, elbow) and middle linebacker Patrick Willis (shoulder).
The 49ers' practice was shorter than the Ravens, lasting for an hour-and-a-half.
According to the pool report, the indoor workout went smoothly.
"We were going to go outside and practice but the winds were a little too much,’’ 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said. "The winds were 20 to 25 miles an hour and we don’t want to send our guys up there in those conditions.’’
Harbaugh was asked about reports that Brooks has an AC joint sprain.
"I don’t get into what those guys have," Harbaugh said. "If they want to give that information, that’s fine. I always feel uncomfortable saying what a player has.’’
Jim Harbaugh said his players are focused and upbeat.
"I thought our guys were excited to get out here on the practice field,’’ Harbaugh said. "The team understands a lot more about the Super Bowl, but they were excited to get out there on the field and do what they do.
"That is something we don’t coach them up on, not bringing cameras or video cameras. We trust our team because that’s who we are. This is the most focused group on unity and winning I’ve been around."
