Cornerback Jimmy Smith returns to Ravens practice on Wednesday

Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith, who missed last two games due to back injury, returned to Wednesday's practice.

Two days after Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Jimmy Smith was “close” to returning, the cornerback showed up for Wednesday’s practice, making his first appearance since Nov. 18.

Smith sat out the past two games because of a back injury that prevented him from practicing last week. A defense that has surrendered four passing touchdowns and a .726 completion percentage and intercepted no passes in two games without Smith, would welcome his return.

Free safety Lardarius Webb appeared limited in practice. He ran along one sideline under the supervision of a trainer, while the rest of the defensive backs went through individual drills.

The Ravens got a scare when wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. limped away from a one-on-one exercise after colliding with cornerback Shareece Wright. But after a minute of talking with a trainer, Smith stood up on his own and followed the offense to one end of the field.

Guards Marshal Yanda (left shoulder) and rookie Alex Lewis (high right ankle sprain), wide receiver Kamar Aiken, tight end Crockett Gillmore (pulled hamstring), and running back Lorenzo Taliaferro (thigh) were absent from the portion of practice open to the media.

UPDATE: Smith was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, according to the team’s injury report. As mentioned above, Yanda, Lewis, Aiken, Gillmore, and Taliaferro missed the session. Aiken is dealing with a thigh ailment.

Miami practiced without a trio of starters in wide receiver DeVante Parker (back), center Mike Pouncey (hip), and outside linebacker Jelani Jenkins (knee, hand).

Four starters were limited on Wednesday. They were left tackle Branden Albert (dislocated wrist), right guard Jermon Bushrod (calf), cornerback Xavien Howard (knee), and left guard Laremy Tunsil (shoulder).
