Browns find contributor in former Raven Bobby Rainey

While much of the attention has focused on the return of kicker Billy Cundiff to M&T Bank Stadium, there is another former Raven who has become a key member of the Browns’ special teams units.

The Browns picked up running back Bobby Rainey off waivers from the Ravens last week and he was installed as Cleveland’s top kick returner. Rainey, who spent much of last season for the Ravens on either the practice squad or injured reserve, averaged 25.8 yards on four kickoff returns against the Miami Dolphins last week.

“We have an understanding of all of his talents, so whoever is back there for them, we’re going to try to defend him through the scheme,” said Jerry Rosburg, the Ravens assistant head coach and special teams coordinator . “Different returners have different styles, and we know his style quite well.”
