Breaking down the Ravens roster
UPDATE: The Ravens made 12 cuts Sunday. Click here to check out the list.
With one preseason to go and with two required cut-down days looming, Ravens coach John Harbaugh and his staff are nearing some key decisions on the makeup of the 53-man roster.
The Ravens currently have 89 players on their roster. Per league rules, they'll have to cut down their roster to 75 prior to Tuesday at 4 p.m. Then they will have to get down to the required 53 players by 6 p.m. on Aug. 31, a deadline that comes just two days after the Ravens conclude their preseason in St. Louis.
Here is a look at where things stand from beat reporters Jeff Zrebiec and Aaron Wilson:

Locks: *Joe Flacco, Tyrod Taylor
Long shot: Caleb Hanie
Skinny: The Ravens said throughout the offseason that they were open to carrying three quarterbacks but there's been no indication that they are still seriously considering it. Hanie has gotten limited reps in practice and didn't play in the second game and played only one drive in the third one. Though having only two quarterbacks, which the Ravens have done for the past three seasons, is always a risky proposition, Flacco hasn't missed a start in five NFL seasons and Taylor is having his best preseason. It appears that the roster spot would be better used elsewhere though Taylor's condition -- he was being tested for a concussion following Thursday's game -- could affect things.
