The Ravens have signed offensive tackle David Mims to their practice squad, filling the vacancy created when the Buffalo Bills signed rookie offensive tackle J.J. Unga off of the Ravens' practice squad to their active roster today.
Mims was on the active roster for Kansas City for five games as a rookie last season and was with the Ravens during the preseason and offseason after being signed to a reserve-future deal.
The 6-foot-8, 335-pounder played collegiately at Virginia Union. He visited the Ravens' training complex prior to going undrafted two years ago.
Unga, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound undrafted rookie from Midwestern State, was signed by the Ravens following this year's NFL draft and spent 11 weeks on the practice squad.
The cousin of former Chicago Bears running back Harvey Unga, he was a first-team All-Lone State Conference selection in college.
Run-game coordinator Juan Castillo had spent a considerable amount of time working with Unga to develop his technique, and the team was pleased with his progress.
