The verdict is in from the NFL fine police, and Ravens strong safety Bernard Pollard said he avoided being fined for his hit on San Diego Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander.
Pollard was penalized for a helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless receiver, but video replays showed clearly that he delivered the blow with his shoulder.
The penalty gave the Chargers a first down and led to a Nick Novak field goal in the fourth quarter of the Ravens' 16-13 overtime victory last Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium.
"No letter," Pollard said in reference to the usual FedEx delivery of a letter disclosing a fine from the league office. "I know how to play football. When I'm right, I'm right."
