Banners in downtown Denver featuring Joe Flacco have drawn the ire of Broncos fans who weren’t pleased about the towering image of the Ravens quarterback on the side of their stadium, Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Ravens fans will soon witness a similar sight in downtown Baltimore, but I’m guessing they will handle it a little better. Cheering for the Super Bowl champions makes you much mellower about that sort of thing.
The NFL is starting to decorate downtown in advance of Thursday night’s kickoff concert at the Inner Harbor. The NFL kickoff logo will be painted on Fed Hill today and other decorations, including the flags of all 32 NFL teams and a large window graphic at the Maryland Science Center, will start to pop up in the area.
Some of the art displayed at the Inner Harbor will feature helmets of both the Ravens and the Broncos. And yes, there will be images of Flacco and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, similar to the ones that irked Broncos fans over the weekend.
At the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, you will see graphics of Flacco and Manning facing off if you enter the property.
I’m sure Ravens fans would have a similar reaction to that of the Broncos fans if the tables were turned. But instead, they can simply wave at Peyton on their way to the Keith Urban kickoff concert, the final celebration for the Super Bowl champions.
