As the Ravens finished up their final full practice before their season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, they welcomed a visitor who left some of their players in awe.
Legendary boxing champion Muhammad Ali took in today’s practice at the Under Armour Performance Center. Wearing a purple Ravens’ T-shirt, the 70-year-old watched practice from a golf cart.
He then posed for pictures with coach John Harbaugh, who traced Ali’s right hand on a notepad. Several players took to their Twitter accounts to express admiration for Ali.
Here’s a sampling:
Linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo: “Muhammad Ali thank you for making athletes public figures capable of shaping the world!
More Rainey: “Starstruck!!!!!! Shook the hand that knocked out ppl & also helped ppl!!!! What a honor!!!”
Wide receiver Torrey Smith: “I can't believe I had the honor of meeting this man...thank you @Ravens for this memory”
Cornerback Lardarius Webb: “I can't believe I met Muhammad Ali. #inshock”
Injured linebacker Terrell Suggs: “Chillen with the Greatest Of ALL Time! Muhammad Ali Monday Nite is Going to be special!!!”
And finally fullback Vonta Leach: “I met the G.O.A.T. today what a great honor just to shake his hand. #inspired #history#respect”
