Mike Preston grades the Ravens' 31-29 win over the Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback: B
When the Ravens had decent field position, Joe Flacco threw the ball well, especially over the middle. He was off on short passes in the flat inside the red zone, but he threw darts to both the short and far sides of the field. Flacco finished with a quarterback rating of 106.9.

Think he ain't licking his chops? D-Line doesn't know how to shread blockers, Linebackers making arm tackles, DB's throwing themselves at the feet/legs of ball carriers (like bowling balls) , and a lack of gang tackling at the point of attack. I was against rushing Suggs back into the lineup, now I hope he can play this sunday.
So a QB rating of 106.9 = B in your mind. You're funny, Mike.
Anytime a professional football team goes for and makes ,not one, but two 4th and over 10 yard plays, then there is a tremendous problem. Defending the pass is always easier, because the onus is on the offense to make the pass play work. Running plays are simpler to run, and when they are effective, the defenses are in trouble. Offensive lineman enjoy run blocking, while defensive players hate running plays. If runningbacks are able to penetrate the line and make it into the secondary, then smaller defensive backs get pounded. Once they start getting pounded, the arm tackles start appearing quite regularly. If you can't stop the run, you are in for a long season. Being at 5-1 is nice, except once you figure in they have already played four home games. The Ravens are fortunate Hillis was hurt and couldn't play the week before in KC, or they would have been pounded into submission. No on the Ravens likes tackling that guy. The next five to six weeks are going to get ugly.
